Firstgiving Questions & Answers
1. How do I set up a fund-raising page online?
Go to www.firstgiving.com/mindbodysolutions and click the green button “Start Fundraising.” Select Kiss My Asana 2016 then follow the prompts to create your own page and submit your registration information.
2. Is there a fee to participate?
Yes. There is a $15 registration fee per person.
3. How do I create a team?
When you are registering to participate in the yogathon as an individual, you have the option of creating a team. Simply click “Join a Team,” and follow the prompts to create a team. If you register and create a fundraising page and later decide you want to go in and create a team, you can do that as well.
4. How do I register other people to be on MY team?
Log in to your Firstgiving account. Click on your page name. (i.e. Molly Bachman’s Page) Then click on “Edit”. From there, click on “View Team xxxxx Page.” Then click “Join Team”.
Then under “Registration for” click “Someone Else.” Then follow the prompts to enter all the information about that person, including name, address, city, state, zip, phone number, county, e-mail address, phone. You will fill this information out for EACH team member.
They will then receive and email from Firstgiving instructing them how to create their own fundraising page, if they choose.
5. How can people donate to me or to my team?
After you have registered, you will have a page with a url like: www.firstgiving.com/yourname (or team name) You can tell people to visit this site and click “Donate.”
6. What if someone wants does not want to donate online?
It’s easy. Have that person mail a check made out to Mind Body Solutions with a note that says “In support of Your Name” and give it to you to mail to MBS or they can mail it directly to Mind Body Solutions 17516 Minnetonka Boulevard, Minnetonka, MN 55345. You can then enter the amount this person sponsored you for on your Firstgiving site as an offline donation. There is an offline donation form you (or they) can download directly from our website at www.mindbodysolutions.org/events.
7. How do I enter an offline donation?
Go to your account, click “Your fundraising pages,” look to the right under the Page Summary column under “Raised offline to date” and click “update.” Enter the amount in the yellow box next to “Amount raised offline.”
8. Can I register other people?
Step 1. Go the main event page: www.firstgiving.com/mindbodysolutions. Click “Start fundraising”
Step 2. Select event – Kiss My Asana 2016
Step 3. Click “Join Now”
Step 4. A “Register now” window will pop up. Click Register. Then follow the prompts to enter all the information about that person, including email, name, address, city, state, zip, phone number, county, password, URL (auto-populates with person’s first and last name), then click next.
Step 5 . This is where you will need to “act” as the person you are registering. So click, “Register myself”.
Step 6. Create an account for that person. Then follow the prompts to enter all the information about that person, including email, name, address, city, state, zip, phone number, county, password, URL (auto-populates with person’s first and last name), then click next.
Step 7. Then follow the prompts to enter all the information about that person, including name, address, city, state, zip, phone number, county, e-mail address, phone. Fill out the billing and payment info. You will be asked to join a team (before you will be asked to set up a fundraising page). If you do, select the team from the drop down list. Then click next. At the bottom of the next screen click “I do not wish to create a page at this time”. This will be done by the person you are registering. They will receive a confirmation email from First Giving with prompts to complete their personal fundraising page.
9. How do I add my Firstgiving page to Facebook?
Go to Your Account Home at the top of www.firstgiving.com/lifecenters. After logging in, go to “Your Fundraising Pages and click “Add your page to Facebook.”
10. How do I display offline donations on my fundraising page?
If someone donates with a personal check, there are two ways you can add them to your fundraising page. 1. log in to your account. 2. Click on “Enter Offline Doantions” 3. Type their donation amount into your offline donation total 3. Add their name, date, amount, or comment to your personal message. If someone donates with cash, you can add them to your donor list by making a donation on their behalf to your page – just be sure to enter their name in the display name field. 4. Mark the donation as Pending. Once we receive the check(s) from you, we will change it to confirmed and it will show up in your fundraising total. Mail all offline checks (no cash please) to Mind Body Solutions: 17516 Minnetonka Boulevard / Minnetonka, MN 55345.
11. What makes a fundraising page successful?
The most successful fundraisers personalize their page with photos and compelling personal stories of why they’re fundraising. The essentials for successful fundraising
Tell your story:
- Why are you fundraising?
- Why is this cause important to you?
- What impact will each donation make? (eg $25 supplies a “Beyond Disability” DVD to a homebound student.)
Set a fundraising goal. Donors want to see their friend succeed. In fact, some will donate again if they know their friend is close to their goal.
1. Set a fundraising target when editing your fundraising page.
2. Give updates on the status of your fundraising goal.
3. Raise your goal once you reach it. Then update your donors again. Add a picture. Add an image that speaks to your donors, e.g. photo of you in your event, or who or what donations are helping. Tell your contacts. Share your fundraising page with family, friends, colleagues, parishioners, or anyone in your community. Firstgiving provides email templates you can use in your account.
Thank your donors. Firstgiving automatically emails a “thank you” message to your donors. When editing your fundraising page, personalize it. Tell donors what it means to you or how their donation is helping your nonprofit. Keep sharing. Send updates on your fundraising, life, or training. Sharing your stories about challenges and achieving milestones makes donors feel a part of your fundraising efforts. Firstgiving provides an email template you can use in your account.
