Thank you, Katie Kohlbeck…
As we take in the sensation of gratitude this month, we would like to take a moment to honor our newsletter coordinator, development and communications assistant, and all-around beautiful soul, Katie Kolbeck. Katie started at MBS volunteering in our adaptive yoga classes at Courage Kenny. From there, she went through our teacher-training program and started her ambulatory class along with Bethany Hutchinson. She also jumped in with both feet and helped develop our social media in all of its forms. Re-imaging this newsletter was one of her many contributions. In the fall of 2017, Katie’s husband, Matt, accepted a new position in New York. After their big move, she continued to support the work of MBS in countless ways. Recently Katie accepted a new opportunity – a job that expands on her vast talents.
Katie is now the Digital Marketing Manager at Student Leadership Network (SNL) where she’s managing digital strategy across social media, email, and website – among other things. SNL is all about equalizing educational opportunities. Take a look at the website to learn more.
She is also involved with Keoni Movement Arts a wonderful organization offering accessible yoga, dance, and gymnastics for all ages. Katie began volunteering as a class assistant in their teen/young adult classes last year before being invited to join their growing Board of Directors this past August. She’s heavily involved in their digital strategy as well and will begin steaching for them soon.
As she describes, the fit seems perfect; “I couldn’t be more pleased to have found this community of kind and compassionate folks. They truly made me feel welcome from the very moment that I stepped into the studio. Of course, it’s been lovely to be back doing this kind of work and while it can never replace MBS, I feel good knowing that I can continue to do the work with this group. (I shared the rack with them last week at class and everyone loved it – no surprise!)”
We will miss her presence at MBS deeply, although she will always be a part of our community.
Thank you, Katie! We are beyond grateful…
