Styles of Yoga

  • Iyengar Style Yoga – Based on the teachings of Sri B.K.S. Iyengar, this method of yoga emphasizes precision, alignment and the use of props.
  • Hatha Yoga – Deepen the connection between your mind and body. Learn yoga poses with an emphasis on breathing, physical awareness and relaxation.

Class Descriptions

  • Intro Series - A 4-week course that introduces the fundamentals of yoga. This is strongly recommended as the best way to begin your study of yoga.
  • Beginning - This class provides an introduction to basic poses, principles of alignment and relaxation.
  • Intermediate - For students with some yoga experience who are ready for more challenging poses and concepts.
  • Advanced - This class moves more deeply into the foundation of yoga with increased study of inversions, backbends and other more difficult poses. You must be able to do sirsasana (headstand) and sarvangasana (shoulderstand) or receive permission from the instructor. This class also requires students have an understanding of how to work with their specific needs.
  • Mixed Levels - Open to all students. This class is for anyone with at least a basic knowledge of yoga.
  • Gentle - For those who want a slower paced class. Introduces fundamental yoga postures while focusing on alignment and precision. Intended for people concerned with the demands of a regular yoga class. Beginners are also welcome.
  • Tai Chi - The slow, fluid, circular movements of this ancient Chinese art enhance balance, ease of movement, and create a greater sense of well-being.
  • Restful - This class, taught by a licensed physical therapist, provides a relaxing and safe learning environment for students of all levels who are seeking a restful way to release tension and ease pain. Based on the Iyengar method, the class emphasizes gentle stretching and proper alignment in a variety of supported poses.
  • Big Kids (ages 6 - 12) - Discover new ways to stretch, breathe, and relax. This class uses movement, stories and games to help kids create a deeper understanding of themselves while improving concentration, creativity and confidence.
  • Teen Class - This class helps teens explore their personal limits and discover positive ways to direct their energy. It increases strength, endurance, flexibility and balance.
