YOGATHON CHALLENGE – APRIL 1-30

 

Kiss my what?

 

Kiss my asana (asana = yoga pose) is a four-week VIRTUAL yoga challenge. For the month of APRIL yogis all over the world DEDICATE their yoga practice to raise awareness and resources for our adaptive yoga program – where we change lives in simple, but profound ways.  Our mission is to help those who have experienced trauma, loss, and disability find news ways to live by integrating both mind and body.  We provide classes, workshops, outreach programs, train yoga teachers and offer highly specialized training for health care professionals. Our goal is to raise $50K to help support the MBS Adaptive Yoga Program.

Come to the Yogathon Kick-Off Class – MARCH 12 from 3:00-5:00pm at ARIA to see what our work is all about. Take part, or simply observe an all humanity class led by Matthew Sanford – a yoga class unlike any other. Adaptive and traditional yogis practice side-by-side, revealing the best of humanity.  It’s a great opportunity to meet fellow yogathoners, pick up your yogathon swag bag and get inspired for your month of yoga!  Please RSVP so we know how many to expect  - it’s FREE and open to all!  Bring a friend!  RSVP for the Kick off here

It’s easy – and FUN! Simply DO yoga – wherever you do yoga. Kiss My Asana is a virtual event, meaning your yoga can happen anywhere – at your yoga studio, a community center, at home…wherever you put your mat or chair! It’s simple. All you have to do is commit to a goal of your choosing for the month of April. Pledge to do 10 hours of yoga. Pledge to practice every day! The choice is yours. No matter your goal, you are helping us, help others!  PLUS… Register for the yogathon and receive your 2017 Kiss my Asana Studio Passport – your ticket to FREE YOGA CLASSES THIS APRIL.

Mind Body Solutions transforms the lives of people living with trauma, loss, and disability – and those who care for then – by helping integrate mind and body. We teach those who traditionally do not have access to the healing power of yoga – those living with trauma, loss, and disability. We train yoga teachers from around the world how to do it too. Here are some of the ways your fundraising efforts will make a difference.

  • $25:  Shares a “Beyond Disability DVD” with a home-bound person living with a disability.
  • $250:  Provides four classes at a battered women’s shelter or a veteran’s center.
  • $500:  Provides full tuition for an Opening Yoga Teacher Training Workshop.
  • $1000:  Transforms the life of one individual living with a disability, by providing them with an entire year of adaptive yoga

How to “DO” the Yogathon:

 

1. DO yoga – wherever you do yoga. Kiss My Asana is a virtual event, meaning it can happen anywhere –  at your yoga studio, a community center, at home…wherever you put your mat or chair! It’s simple. All you have to do is commit to increasing your yoga practice by ANY amount for the month of February. For example, increase your once-a-week practice to two, maybe three times a week. Or perhaps you simply “up” the number of minutes from 60 to 90 each week. Maybe you’ve never tried yoga and simply committing to ONE PRACTICE is just your speed. The choice is yours – use your imagination!

2.  SHARE your commitment. Register through our Crowdrise Page, create your fundraising page, then share it with your friends and family to ask for their support. First Giving makes it easy to share your page via email, social site like FaceBook, Twitter, etc.  We also have an  Offline Donation Form. Download, print and give to friends who prefer to write a good old fashioned check. (no cash please).

3.   HELP others. Know that your participation in the yogathon helps support the life-changing work of Mind Body Solutions Adaptive Yoga Program. Thank you!
