Everything you wanted to know about hosting a donation class…

Below are some ideas, questions, and tips to help you get started in thinking about your class or event. Have any questions or simply want a sounding board? Email katie@mindbodysolutions.org

Brainstorm your offering…

Consider what kind of event would best suit you and the community you would like to invite. Plan a workshop, a themed class (80s yoga, anyone?) or an extra class on a holiday. If you own a studio or space, host an open house and dedicate a full day of classes to Kiss My Asana! If you want to go big, add some extra elements to your class or event such as live music, prizes, or refreshments following the class. If you’re short on time and resources, consider hosting a small, private event in your home or at a friend’s house. Get creative. The sky is the limit!

Location, location, location…

Now that you have an idea of the kind of class or event you want to plan, think about where you can host a class or event. Do you own or work at a studio where you could host a class? If not, do you have access to other public spaces such as a park, community center, or church? Or, maybe you have a beautiful backyard or large indoor space where you can comfortably host a small group of friends.

Find partners in doing good…

Depending on the size and format of class you’re planning, collaborating with partners is a great way to find extra support while building community and spreading the word about what you’re doing. Assemble a planning committee to help with the logistics and marketing. If you have a bigger vision, reach out to local businesses to see if they will contribute to your event as a sponsor or provide in-kind goods or services like food, drinks, prizes, or music.

Getting the word out…

If possible, start promoting your event six weeks ahead of your event. Here are just a few ways to start spreading the word:

List your class on our website…

If you’re hosting an event and would like us to list it on our website (we’d love to, in fact), just fill out this quick form and we’ll get it listed! Alternatively, send a note with all of the details directly to Katie Kohlbeck at katie@mindbodysolutions.org.

Celebrate and donate…

This one is important. After your event, make sure to celebrate your achievement! Let your attendees, followers, and friends know how much you raised and the impact it’ll make. Be sure to let us know too –  we want to celebrate with you! When you’re ready, you can submit your donation by:

Whether you send in the donation by credit card or check, please include a note that the money is from a donation class so we can keep track of how much we raise together! Thanks so much for helping share a story of hope and healing for everybody living with trauma, loss, and disability.

One last thing…

We would LOVE to see any pictures of your class! Take a look at the gallery below to catch a glimpse of Kiss My Asana donation classes from the past and see MBS yogis like you that are dedicated to doing yoga, sharing yoga, and helping others…
