Lynn Penney
Yoga Teacher

Lynn was a counseling therapist for families and individuals for seven years after earning her master’s degree in counseling psychology. After marrying and having her first child, she started doing yoga — first as a way to get back in shape after childbirth, and then growing it into a whole way of life. She discovered yoga not only heals physically and emotionally, but also nurtures COMPASSION while uncovering our true inner nature. Lynn has practiced Ashtanga and Hatha yoga for 10 years and started teaching in 2003. She became a certified Hatha yoga teacher through a two-and-a-half-year program at the Himalayan Institute of St. Paul, Minn., and is a member of the Yoga Alliance and International Association for Yoga Therapists. Lynn currently teaches children, elders and adults, and assists people with disabilities in Matthew Sanford’s adaptive yoga class at Courage Center. She also takes part in the Mind Body Solutions adaptive yoga training program.

Lynn is a mother to 10-year-old Sam (her inspiration to start yoga) and four-year-old Sophie (her inspiration to get her motorcycle license). She lives in Minnetonka with her children, her very inspirational husband, Tom, and Ruby, a wise elder 13-year-old chocolate lab.
